In the small town of Bremond, Texas, football season is a year-round conversation. For the Bremond Tigers, success has become the baseline expectation. Coming off a 2025 campaign that saw them go 13-1 before falling in the 2A Division III Regional Final, the Tigers are turning their focus to 2026 with a roster dripping in experience and a hunger to go further.

Head coach Jeff Kasowski, now in his second decade at the helm, has built a program where playoff runs are routine. The 2026 squad returns seven starters on offense and seven on defense, giving Bremond one of the most seasoned rosters in Class 2A. The team will have 29 returning players, a luxury many small schools rarely enjoy.

“We bring back a lot of experience and especially at the skill positions,” Kasowski said. “The expectations are high and we didn’t know we lost the one football game last year. And it’s not the one we wanted to lose — not that you want to lose any of them — but it was a little short of where we wanted to be, of course. But I think that’s added a little extra motivation for especially our seniors for this year.”

That motivation is palpable. Senior quarterback Sam Kasowski, the coach’s son, returns for his third full season as a starter. In 2025, he torched defenses for 2,478 passing yards and 31 touchdowns, numbers that put him among the top signal-callers in the state. His chemistry with wide receiver Jeramiah Morgan, who hauled in 717 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, could be even more explosive with another year of experience.

The Tigers also boast a punishing ground game. Tyriq Scott, a senior running back and defensive lineman, rushed for 639 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025. He’ll be supported by Rashaud McGee, a versatile two-way player who contributes both in the backfield and on the defensive line. Jaden Scott adds depth at receiver and linebacker, giving Kasowski multiple weapons to deploy.

One key loss is Tank Scott, who graduated after a standout career. But the Tigers have depth to absorb his departure. The offensive line, anchored by seniors Wes Bodiford, Carson Tullous, and Jack Nickels, returns intact, providing a sturdy foundation for the skill players to operate.

“We took it pretty hard last year, but I think it all just showed us that we need to play a little bit harder with our heart,” Bodiford said. “We gave it our all, but I think we got a good shot this year.”

That sentiment echoes through the locker room. The Tigers’ 2025 season ended in the regional final, a game that felt like a missed opportunity. Now, with 17 returning starters and a core of seniors who have been through the battles, the goal is clear: a trip to Jerry’s World, the home of AT&T Stadium, where the state championship is decided.

“I feel like these two years, we’ve kind of been really close to getting there to Jerry’s World,” senior quarterback Sam Kasowski said. “I think the biggest part of our team this year — that’s really going to put us over the top — is our experience.”

Bremond opens the 2026 season on August 28 at home against Hamilton. The Tigers will face a tough schedule that should prepare them for another postseason push. With a veteran roster, a proven quarterback, and a coach who has built a winning culture, the Tigers are poised to make a serious run at the 2A Division III title.
