DENVER — Shohei Ohtani continues to etch his name into the record books. The two-way superstar crushed a two-run home run in the third inning Tuesday night, reaching the 30-homer mark for the sixth straight season and leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 7-6 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

Ohtani's blast, a towering 448-foot shot that landed in the Dodgers' bullpen, came off Rockies starter Ryan Feltner and gave Los Angeles a 3-1 lead. The polarizing slugger has now homered three times in the first two games of this three-game series, signaling a hot streak after the Dodgers' offense had gone quiet over the weekend.

Freddie Freeman, the Dodgers' steady first baseman, chipped in with two hits and two RBIs, while Teoscar Hernandez showcased his power with a triple and a double. Tommy Edman also contributed with two doubles, part of a 10-hit attack that helped Los Angeles snap out of a mini-slump. The Dodgers had managed only 10 runs in their previous four games against the Milwaukee Brewers, but they've exploded for 18 runs on 24 hits against Colorado, including four home runs.

After Ohtani's long ball, the Rockies answered quickly in the bottom of the third, tying the game at 3-3. But Los Angeles struck back in the fourth. Tommy Edman doubled, Kyle Tucker doubled, and Teoscar Hernandez doubled in succession, pushing the Dodgers ahead 5-3. Freeman then lifted a sacrifice fly to score Hernandez, extending the lead to 6-3.

Eric Lauer, the left-hander acquired from Toronto on May 17, turned in a gritty performance. He allowed four runs on six hits over five innings, striking out six while walking three. The 31-year-old improved to 8-6 with the win, and has been a reliable presence in the rotation since joining the Dodgers, posting a 3.48 ERA over his first 11 starts with the club.

Colorado trimmed the lead in the fifth when Will Castro launched his 14th home run of the season, a solo shot that made it 6-4. The Rockies kept pressure on the Dodgers bullpen, but closer Tanner Scott, elevated to the role after Edwin Diaz was placed on the injured list with neck inflammation, worked a tense ninth inning. Scott allowed a double to Jake McCarthy but then got TJ Rumfield to pop out to shortstop with the tying run on base, securing his 17th save in 19 opportunities.

Los Angeles had added an insurance run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Gavin Lux, which proved crucial when Colorado scored twice in the bottom of the eighth. The Dodgers' defense held firm, and Scott closed the door.

For the Rockies, Feltner (5-7) took the loss after allowing six runs in four innings. Colorado's offense showed fight, but the pitching staff couldn't contain the Dodgers' lineup.

The series finale on Wednesday night will feature a matchup of right-hander Roki Sasaki (5-5, 4.46 ERA) for Los Angeles against left-hander Kyle Freeland (4-10, 6.27) for Colorado. The Dodgers are looking to sweep the series, while the Rockies aim to salvage a win at home.
