The Chicago Sky finally found their road rhythm, snapping a six-game losing streak away from home with a hard-fought 82-80 victory over the Seattle Storm on Sunday. The win, played at Climate Pledge Arena, gave the Sky a much-needed boost as they continue to fight for playoff positioning in the WNBA standings.

Kamilla Cardoso was a dominant force in the paint, posting 22 points and 12 rebounds for her latest double-double. Natasha Cloud provided the perimeter punch with 20 points, while veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot orchestrated the offense with 15 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Her clutch free throw with 10 seconds remaining proved to be the difference.

The Sky seized control early. After Seattle scored the game's first basket, Chicago responded with an 11-0 run, fueled by six quick points from Cardoso. The Sky never relinquished the lead from that point, though the Storm made several spirited runs. Chicago's largest advantage came late in the third quarter, when they led 53-37 with 5:49 left in the period.

Seattle refused to fold. Dominique Malonga, who finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds, answered with a basket and two free throws. Guard Jade Melbourne and rookie Awa Fam then knocked down back-to-back three-pointers, capping a 15-4 run that pulled the Storm within 60-55 heading into the final quarter. The Storm continued to chip away, eventually getting within a point, but they could never get over the hump.

In the closing seconds, Melbourne had a chance to force overtime, but her driving layup attempt at the buzzer rimmed out, sealing the Sky's victory. The scene was a stark contrast to the teams' meeting earlier in the week, when Seattle snapped an 11-game losing streak with a 97-88 win over the Sky at home. This time, it was Chicago’s turn to celebrate on the road.

For the Storm, Ezi Magbegor contributed 17 points, and Fam added 14 off the bench. The loss drops Seattle to 7-30, the worst record in the league. Despite the defeat, the Storm showed resilience, particularly in the second half, and their young core continues to gain valuable experience.

The Sky, now 13-22, will look to build on this momentum. They return home to host the New York Liberty on Tuesday, while the Storm travel to face the Dallas Wings on Sunday. The win also marked a significant milestone for Chicago, as it was their first road victory since July 12, ending a drought that stretched over a month.
