The road to a World Heavyweight Championship opportunity is narrowing, and two of the most electrifying luchadores in professional wrestling are on a collision course. On the August 24 edition of WWE Raw, Rey Fenix and Penta both punched their tickets to the finals of the Number One Contender's tournament, setting up a dream match between the former Lucha Brothers tag team partners.

Fenix opened the evening with a semifinal clash against the high-flying Dragon Lee. The contest was a showcase of aerial offense and technical proficiency. Fenix struck first with a Goodbye Amigo, then followed up with a crossbody from the top rope and a springboard moonsault. He attempted a double leg drop, but Lee kicked out. The pace quickened as both men traded kicks and countered each other's signature moves. Lee delivered a thunderous sitdown powerbomb, but Fenix fought back with a kick to the face and a dive from the top rope. The battle spilled to the outside, where Fenix drove Lee's head into the announce desk. Lee responded with a tope suicida, knocking Fenix off the commentary table. Back in the ring, Lee landed a tornado DDT, only for Fenix to fire back with a brainbuster. Lee blocked a Mexican Muscle Buster attempt and hit a Styles Clash, but Fenix kicked out. After a cutter from Fenix and a kick to the face from Lee, Fenix finally connected with the Mexican Muscle Buster, scoring the pinfall victory.

In the second semifinal, Penta faced AAA's La Parka in a contest that blended brutality with high-flying innovation. Penta wasted no time, taking Parka down immediately, but Parka returned the favor. Penta then dumped Parka to the outside and launched himself with a tope con hilo. Parka responded by kicking Penta through the ropes and landing a majestic moonsault. Penta, undeterred, kicked Parka in midair and later hit a backstabber after absorbing multiple forearm shots. Parka landed a crossbody from the top rope, used the ropes for an armdrag and a powerslam. Penta dropkicked Parka into the corner and followed with a kick to the chest. Parka planted Penta, but Penta answered with a Penta Driver. The two ascended to the top rope, where Parka executed a Spanish Fly. Penta countered a Bone Breaker attempt, and in a stunning sequence, he hit a Mexican Destroyer off the ropes to secure the victory.

After the match, Fenix emerged from the back and walked to the ring. The two men stood face-to-face, the tension palpable as the crowd erupted. After a long staredown, they extended their hands and shook, a gesture of mutual respect that only deepened the anticipation for their upcoming clash. Next week on Raw, the winner of Fenix vs. Penta will earn a World Title match against Roman Reigns in Mexico City on the September 14 edition of Raw.
